EXCLUSIVE: Sister Of Murdered 'Survivor' Wife Requests Assistance Of State Department And FBI In Investigation

Carla Burgos, the sister of Monica Beresford-Redman, the wife of Bruce Beresford-Redman, has sought the help of the US State Department and the FBI in her quest to get justice for her slain sister, RadarOnline.com can exclusively report.

Lourdes Arocho of the FBI tells RadarOnline.com, "The family has been in touch with the State Department to ask for assistance in the investigation. But as the crime occurred in Mexico in order for the FBI to get involved it falls on the Mexican government to request their assistance through the United States government. The Mexican authorities haven't done that so far."

Sources close to Monica’s family say that they are anxiously awaiting an arrest in the case.

Bruce Beresford-Redman has been questioned and was subsequently ordered not to leave Mexico as he remains under investigation. In addition the former Survivor producer was ordered to surrender his passport to local police officials.

Monica’s body was found dumped in a sewer at the posh resort in Cancun where the couple had been staying with their two children. According to Attorney General Francisco Alor, Monica's body had - among other things - scratches on the neck and signs of asphyxiation.

Monica was first reported missing last Tuesday by her husband, who alleged that she had left the resort to go shopping and never came back. The couple had been seen arguing the previous night by a hotel security guard. In addition a guest in an adjoining room had reported sounds of an altercation coming from the couple’s room, including a woman’s screams for help and what sounded like breaking furniture.

'Survivor' Producer Employs Reality TV Lawyer

RadarOnline.com has learned that the family are also petitioning to have Monica's body released to her sisters, so they can bring her home to the United States for burial. According to reports, Bruce has indicated that he wants his dead wife's remains cremated.

On Monday, Carla Burgos and her powerhouse attorney, Alison Triessl, met with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office head honcho Steve Cooley for over three hours to also request the DA’s assistance in the investigation.

Bruce's parents, who were granted custody of the couple’s two children Camila and Alec on Friday, have proclaimed their son’s innocence, amid claims he had cheated on his wife with a co-worker.

"My wife and I are grief-stricken at the loss of our beloved daughter-in-law,” David Beresford-Redman said in a statement. “We know our son loved Monica and would never have harmed her.”
