OK, she’s not exactly America’s sweetheart, and yes, she did play a witch on TV ( and we’re not referring to her role as Brenda on Beverly Hills 90210) but come on! – did notorious Hollywood bad girl Shannen Doherty really deserve to be the first contestant voted off Dancing With The Stars Tuesday night?  We think not!

But the former Charmed star was gracious in defeat, saying,  "Dancing isn't really my thing.  I did it for my dad." Doherty's father has been front-and-center in the studio audience, cheering his daughter on.

"To see my dad's face light up the way that it did and how proud he was of me just filled me with this kind of amazing emotion of thankfulness," Doherty said. "I call that a success."

So who did deserve to be voted off in our humble opinion?  We’re not saying – but let’s just say, Shannen’s early exit was definitely a “buzz kill” (hint, hint) especially since her Viennese waltz with partner Mark Ballas drew praise from the judges.

And talk about adding insult to injury – or actually, injury to insult – after her surprise elimination, Doherty revealed that Ballas had seriously injured his leg and wouldn’t have been able to dance with her next week, had she moved on.

“I kind of think it’s fate — my partner is hurt and he’s out for six weeks and to be honest, I wouldn’t want to go on without Mark,” Doherty said. Ballas then explained  that during Monday’s dress rehearsal, he injured his knee.

“Luckily it’s nothing too bad,” he said. “I may not need surgery, I may, but I pulled the muscle off the bone so I’m gonna be out for six weeks.”

Dancing With The Stars airs  at 8/7c Mondays and Tuesdays on ABC.
