This is the new Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky, posing in her high school yearbook as an innocent 18-year-old.

The reality star's brown locks and sultry expression is in stark contrast to her huge smile and blonde hair which have won her place on the hit show.

But even back in 2002, when she graduated from Mount Grey Lock High School in Williamstown, she was a pretty and popular student.

On her senior entry Fedotowsky thanked a host of friends focusing on one particular guy, who seemed close to her heart.

"I didn't forget you guys, I'll miss you all," she wrote after referencing a group of friends recognized only by their initials.

She then went on to write; "Jim, thanks so much for being part of my life. No matter what happens I will never forget you.

"Mom, dad, grandma. Thanks."

Fedotowsky quotes the serenity prayer before taking a lighter approach to her school days by citing a line from the film Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Fedotowsky - who stunned audiences by quitting the Bachelor for her job at Facebook - was ambitious even back in school and was on the varsity soccer team for four years before heading to college where she earned a psychology degree.

Her school friend Trisha Patel said she has always been a fun-loving girl-next-door. "When she wore a dress with sneakers at a rose ceremony, that was typical Ali," she said.

The show will premiere on May 24th.
