Ross Mathews, famously known as Ross The Intern on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, is happy the show is back on track and the Jay/Conan drama is over.

RadarOnline.com caught up with the always outrageous Mathews on the red carpet at the Human Rights Campaign’s star-studded gala Saturday night in Los Angeles, during which Better Off Ted star Portia de Rossi was honored with HRC’s Visibility Award for her outspokenness on LGBT issues.

Speaking candidly about the failed Jay Leno Show in primetime, Ross told us exclusively, “To be honest, the vibe on the ten o’clock show was nervous because it wasn’t a secret.. it was weird.. it was awkward. The 11:30 (p.m.) show.. it’s the same crew that’s been there with Jay at least since I’ve been there for eight years. They’re very happy to be back home. It was unfortunate how it went down, but everyone’s really happy to be there.”

Ross, who’s appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for the past eight-and-a-half years, also told us he’ll be doing more work on the show, and ended our interview by reiterating  one more time, “We’re happy to be back at 11:30.”
