High School Musical producer Kenny Ortega appears to be the one who rallied for Abdul to get some stage time. “Seems as if Ortega wants Paula involved in this project,” the insider tells RadarOnline.com. “Ortega is hot to have her choreograph the film version.”

On a side note, Abdul and Ortega both have long-time connections to the Jackson family, with Ortega choreographing Michael Jackson’s This Is It tour and Abdul having worked with Janet Jackson in her first music videos and with the Jackson family for their Victory Tour.
