It came as a shock to some that Simon Monjack’s name was completely left out of his late wife, Brittany Murphy’s will, with the entirety of her estate being passed to her mother, Sharon Murphy. But it was no shock to Monjack, who tells RadarOnline.com that it was his request that Brittany omit him from the will, as he wanted to make sure that Sharon would be financially stable in the event of anything happening to her daughter.

“I was not included in Brittany’s will at my own request. I knew I would never need the money,” Monjack said. “Brittany and Sharon created Brittany’s incredible career together. The high earning years were behind her at the time we married and I always wanted Sharon to have financial security if God forbid anything happened to Brittany.

“Sharon has offered to split everything with me and I have declined,” Monjack said, noting that he will hold on to a few of Brittany’s personal belongings. “I will keep the hundreds of love letters that Brittany and I exchanged and my favorite black, cashmere hoodie that Brittany started to wear the first weekend we were together. It became her comfort zone.”

Monjack has been ridiculed in the past by various media outlets for reportedly marrying Brittany for financial gain, but he claims he’s doing just fine on his own. “The truth of it is, I was widowed and thank God I am in a financial position that I can be independent,” Monjack told RadarOnline.com. “I am the richest man in the world when it comes to memories.”

Brittany purchased her Hollywood Hills home in 2003 but Monjack tells RadarOnline.com that it’s up for sale because he can’t continue to live in the house where his wife tragically passed away. “The house went on the market with an asking price of $7.25 million, as it is just too painful for Sharon and I to live here,” Monjack said. “I am in the process of buying a loft in downtown New York City to turn into a state of the art photography studio and I want to concentrate on that aspect of my career.
