Rehab For Rip Torn After Bank Break In

Rip Torn is heading in the direction that many other troubled stars have gone previously after a brush with the law or after a newly reported scandal- straight to rehab.

The 78-year-old 30 Rock actor was arraigned in a Connecticut court Monday to answer numerous charges, including burglary, trespassing, carrying a firearm while intoxicated and carrying a weapon without a permit, relating to his drunken escapade Friday when he broke into a bank armed with a loaded gun.

A Drunk Rip Torn Arrested After Breaking Into A Bank

Torn's attorney, A. Thomas Waterfall told the judge that his client needs help with his alcohol abuse and that he can start treatment as soon as tomorrow morning in New York state.

Rip Torn Released After Posting Bail

The judge scheduled Torn's next court date for Feb. 17 in the Part A courthouse in Litchfield, which handles serious cases.

Bail was set at $100,000, which Torn posted with help from a bail bondsman.

As a condition of his release, the judge said Torn must be evaluated for substance abuse.
