VIDEO: Tensions Rise On The Bachelor, "This Rose Ceremony Is Going To Hurt"

The competition was fierce on Monday night’s episode of ABC’s The Bachelor. With only five women left, pilot Jake Pavelka and his chosen ladies explored San Francisco on the last dates and last elimination before the string of hometown dates that will bring the reality stud to the women’s hometowns and families.

Vienna and Ali, two of the seeming frontrunners, were again at each other’s throats. The friction was palpable in one early moment when they thought they were supposed to go on a two-on-one date with Jake. While that would have created some classic TV moments, lucky for the girls, it wasn’t so.
Instead, Jake whisked Vienna and Gia off to a castle in the middle of a vineyard for an overnight date. Gia got the reassurance she needed that she wasn’t just a third wheel when Jake took her downstairs in the bowels of the castle for some bonding and a heavy make-out session. After an over-dramatic roaming of the wine casks in search of Gia and Jake, Vienna was finally reunited with Jake who she seemingly cleared the air with after sensing that he was being distant.
However, the aggressive blonde may have gone too far later in the night when she snuck downstairs to hop into bed to see Jake. “I think Vienna needed to go back upstairs,” Jake said, making it clear that he was uncomfortable with the forward gesture.

The first one-on-one date went to sweet and optimistic Tenley who got the distinction from Jake of being the woman he could “picture most” as his wife. At a remarkable dinner in famous Coit Tower, Jake finally became at peace with her first marriage and Tenley was comforted by Jake’s stance on infidelity. “The woman that I marry will be the last woman that I look at,” he said in response to the stereotype that pilots have a woman waiting in every terminal.
Corrie, who had not even kissed Jake, tried to make up for some lost time. After a missed moment in the boat, the couple later locked lips at dinner in an empty science museum- but only after some major revelations. Corrie let Jake know that not only would she not live with a man before they were married, but that she is committed to staying a virgin until she is married. To her relief, sensitive Jake said he completely understood and respected her opinion, adding that no sex before marriage was completely fine with him!

Ali had the upper hand going into the San Francisco trip since she lives in the Northern California city. She made full use of her home field advantage, giddily showing Jake around her neighborhood. After picking flowers at a local corner store, they had lunch at one of her favorite spots and then bonded by the water at the end of a trail she frequently runs along.
After the date, the women returned to the hotel to prepare for the final rose ceremony. While his talk with host Chris Harrison was supposed to cast doubts in the viewer’s minds that he would give Gia a rose, from his lackluster musings on Corrie, it was clear that the innocent Floridian would be sent packing.
One revealing moment from the talk was Jake admitting that one reason the decision was so painful is because he was doing the same thing to someone he cared about that Bachelorette Gillian Harris had done to him when he was a contestant- a memory clearly still painful for him. “This rose ceremony is going to hurt,” he said sincerely before taking one last look at the photos of the five women left standing.
Besides Corrie’s feelings, the other stinging portion of the show-ending ceremony was the look Ali had on her face after Vienna got the last rose. The claws are out and it’s coming down to the wire- game on, ladies!
