EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Sheen And Wife Reunite, Fly Back To LA

Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller's first moment together after a judge modified their restraining order, thus allowing them to attempt to work out their differences, was over a cigarette on a private Aspen tarmac.

An eyewitness told RadarOnline.com that Charlie and Brooke had a “heart-to-heart” while waiting for their private jet, which took a late-afternoon flight for the couple from Colorado to California.

And in a desperate bid to avoid more media attention, Charlie had the jet diverted to Camarillo Airport in Ventura, outside Los Angeles, while the crew went on to eventually land at Van Nuys Airport.

“Charlie and Brooke stood outside on the tarmac (in Aspen) and seemed to be deeply involved in a heart-to-heart conversation, all the while smoking cigarettes,” said the eye-witness.

“They were clearly relieved to be back in each other’s company and even shared a joke or two.”

It was the Sheens’ first private communication since Charlie’s Christmas arrest. Until the secret rendezvous, the couple had been communicating through their lawyers.

They hugged in court yesterday as judge modified a protective order allowing the Two and a Half Men actor and his wife to see each other.

Brooke lawyer, Yale Galanter, told reporter’s they hugged again and kissed in the basement of the 19th century Pitkin County Courthouse after the brief hearing.

Although they left in separate vehicles, Charlie and Brooke secretly reunited on the tarmac to fly out of Aspen.

Brooke wants prosecutors to drop the case.

“I can tell you, Brooke very badly wanted to have contact with Charlie," Galanter said outside court.

"There are many children's issues that she wanted to communicate with him about... they have two gorgeous beautiful babies together.

"Brooke would like this case to be over and charges dismissed so they can get on with their lives."

Charlie Sheen is accused of holding a knife to his wife's throat and threatening to kill her on December 25 at their Aspen home.

Prosecutors charged the TV star with felony menacing and misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and criminal mischief.

The most serious charge carries a maximum three-year prison term.

Sheen did not enter a plea on Monday and is due back in court March 15.
