Hanes Drops Charlie Sheen Ad Campaign

Charlie Sheen won't be getting his Hanes on anyone anytime soon, as the company announced Wednesday they are scratching an ad campaign showcasing the Two and a Half Men star (along with NBA superstar Michael Jordan)  following his Christmas Day arrest in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident with his wife Brooke Mueller.

"It's a pretty standard, straightforward call when somebody who's in your commercials is arrested on suspicion of something of this magnitude," Hanes spokesman Matt Hall told the AP. "And we would suspend the ads both for the company and, really, for Mr. Sheen and his family as well. Given the publicity, it makes sense to not air those ads during that time.”

Hanes, which is based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, said they failed in their attempt to cancel a series of upcoming print ads featuring the 44-year-old Wall Street 2 star, because of "the production schedule of those publications."

Police arrested Sheen December 25 in Aspen, Colorado in connection with felony charges of menacing and domestic violence. Sheen is slated to appear in court February 8 and answer to a judge regarding the incident.
