Immense tragedy struck Haiti on Tuesday, when an earthquake with a magnitude of 7, the most powerful earthquake in 200 years of history, hit the impoverished nation.

The effects of the earthquake were to be felt around the world as people worried about their families, friends and loved ones affected by the quake. With communications pretty much wiped out and the country’s infrastructure shaken to it’s core the short term outlook is bleak for the developing country.

President Obama immediately pledged his administration’s, and America’s help in the search and rescue efforts as well as financial aid.

And it wasn’t just Washington that was reaching out, the effects were also felt strongly in Hollywood, with Brad and Angelina rushing to aid and publicly pledging their support for the tragic victims, the injured, the trapped and their surviving families.

Few have felt the pain and worry more though  than the Haitian born Heroes star, actor Jimmy Jean-Louis.

The majority of the actor’s family live in Haiti, and he is torn apart by the worry and the fear of the unknown. On stand-by to get on the first plane into the country from the US, the devastated actor shares his story exclusively with RadarOnline.com.

“It is a catastrophe, I can not believe this is happening especially to Haiti that has no possible way to cope with this situation, I am devastated,” Jean-Louis says.

“I am still not in touch with my mom and dad and of course my other family, my cousins, uncles and aunts and friends. It’s been impossible. I have been trying to call ever since I heard about the situation.

“Only one person has told me about what happened to him and the experience was something he’s never experienced in his entire life before. It’s horrible, just horrible.

“I would love to go there. I am giving myself to anyone who will take me there. I will give myself to any of those big operations, ABC, NBC, CBS or whoever it may be I will go there and do some work for them. I know where to go and what to say and do.

“I only found out about it when soemone told me. But I wasn’t worried at first because Haiti is pretty strong as  it is all concrete and metal.  They have very large structures but when I looked the presidential palace was down and all the big hotels were down and the hospitals were down. It is horrible, the strongest and the biggest earthquake to hit in 200 years had to hit Haiti.”

Jean-Louis urges you to do your part to help the poor and suffering people of Haiti in their desperate time of need - imploring RadarOnline.com readers to donate to the Red Cross redcross.org either on-line or via phone:  text "HAITI" TO 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross' efforts there and/or online to Hollywood Unites For Haiti HUFH.org
