The Duggars Baby Number 19 Still Fighting To Survive

"Years ago, a baby this small wouldn't have lived an hour," says Jim Bob Duggar, about the newest addition to his TLC-featured family.

Jim Bob and wife Michelle welcomed their 19th child, little Josie Brooklyn, who weighed 1 lb. 6 ounces when delivered on December 10. Now Josie weighs 2 lbs. 3 ounces and is getting breast milk through a tube.

The Duggars moved 17 of their other children to Little Rock, Ark. so they could be closer to Josie who is still in intensive care at Arkansas Children's Hospital.

It's a miracle she's doing so well," Jim Bob told People.

And Michelle adds: "It is incredible what the doctors and nurses can do to save the life of this little person."

The baby’s survival is still a daily struggle. “It is the hardest thing we've ever been through," says Jim Bob, who also reveals that doctors told him “never trust a preemie” because you never know what will happen.

Josie Brooklyn was born at 25 weeks. Michelle was suffering from preeclampsia.

Michelle, as usual, remains optimistic and says: We are grateful for the wonderful days when she has been good. We know at any moment, things could change."

Josie Brooklyn’s birth will be featured on TLC on 19 Kids and Counting: Special Duggar Delivery, which airs Jan. 31 on TLC.

The show’s new season begins in February.
