David Letterman's accused extortionist, CBS news producer Robert J. "Joe" Halderman, will stand trial after a judge in Manhattan state Supreme Court refused Tuesday morning to dismiss the grand larceny charges filed against him.

Letterman admitted on his Oct. 1 broadcast that he had testified before a grand jury earlier that day, because of the alleged $2 million extortion scheme; he told his audience that "the creepy stuff was that I have had sex with women who work for me on this show,” an admission which ignited a firestorm of scrutiny towards the veteran talk show host.
