Twilight's Ashley Greene Shares Her Perfect Prom Tips

Ashley Greene graces the cover of the 2010 issue of TeenPROM and looks stunning in a purple bejeweled frock. Modeling the latest in prom chic the Twilight beauty opens up about her own prom, gives tips for the perfect prom night and even shares a little about staring in the hugely successful Twilight series.
In Twilight Alice Cullen (played by Ashley) helps out Bella to ensure she has the perfect prom look for her big night, and in real life Ashley also plays the role of prom fairy god mother, as spokesperson for the charity DonateMyDress.org.
"I had my prom dress forever until I became a part of the charity and donated it," says Ashley. "It’s amazing to see girls’ faces light up when given a dress. It’s really fun because I get to interact with these girls and share the experience with them."
Ashley shares that her own prom experience was a magical one, and one that she worked very hard to create for herself.
"My prom was great," Ashley says. "I bought my dress and I pretty much paid for everything because my parents really didn’t have the money to pay for something like that. I worked for it, so I think it meant that much more to me because I had to save up. I went with my high school sweetheart and had a blast. I had that fairytale prom everyone talks about. It’s something I’ll remember forever."
While Ashley describes her current style as classic, she definitely went all out for her prom dress, opting for sparkly glamour.
"It was a really, really fitted full-length dress covered with bronze and gold sequins," she remembers. "It was a halter style and the neckline plunged. My mom made me take a shawl. She said, ‘I know your dad, and he’s not going to let you out of the house.’ So we got this really pretty sheer shawl to go over it as a compromise."
When it comes to creating your perfect prom, Ashley has some words of wisdom.
"Definitely plan ahead because the actual day can be kind of stressful. Planning everything out helps a lot," she says. "When picking out your dress, make sure you’re really comfortable in it because you are going to be dancing around, moving around, sitting, eating and all of that stuff.
"Be yourself and don’t overdo it. People have a lot of anticipation for an event like prom and end up overdoing it or wearing too much makeup. Really make sure you are comfortable because then you’ll feel beautiful, instead of going overboard and asking yourself, ‘Oh my gosh, what did I do?’"
Next for Ashley is The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the series’ third film. Ashley says that by now, playing Alice Cullen is like meeting an old friend.
"With Twilight, I was just so nervous and new. I didn’t know what to expect," Ashley confesses. "With New Moon, we had already portrayed these characters and the fans responded to the movie and loved it.
"Also, Alice’s part became more pivotal. I got to do some action, and basically guided Bella through the whole second half of the film. I was so thankful that it happened in the second movie because I’m not sure I could have handled it in the first one."
