NEW DETAILS: Rush Limbaugh Remains Hospitalized After Suffering Chest Pains; Described As "Resting Comfortably"

UPDATE: Limbaugh remains in the hospital. The Queens Medical Center released a statement Thursday, "Rush Limbaugh was admitted to The Queen¹s Medical Center on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 after suffering chest pains. He is being treated today, continues to rest comfortably, and remains in good spirits.
"Mr. Limbaugh appreciates the prayers and well wishes of his many fans and supporters. He will continue to provide updates on his website, rushlimbaugh.com."
UPDATE: As of 3pm EST Thursday, Limbaugh remains in the hospital
Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh is ‘resting comfortably’ in a hospital in Hawaii after suffering chest pains while on vacation, his radio program has announced.
"Rush appreciates your prayers and well wishes and will keep you updated via rushlimbaugh.com and on his radio program," the program said in a statement issued on its website late Wednesday night.

KITV-TV in Honolulu reports that Limbaugh was sitting in a chair in his ninth-floor hotel room at the Kahala Hotel and Resort when emergency personnel arrived earlier Wednesday. KITV says Limbaugh complained he was experiencing chest pains and told medical crews he was taking medication for a back problem. He was then taken by ambulance to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, where he was admitted in serious condition.

Limbaugh’s chief of state Kitt Carson did not give any details of his condition, but said the 58-year-old radio titan left for his usual Christmas vacation on December 23, and is due to return to his show on January 4. Carson didn't have any information about whether Limbaugh’s return to his radio show would be delayed due to his health scare.

KITV says Limbaugh was seen golfing at Waialae Country Club, a country club next to the hotel, earlier this week, presumably in good health.
Limbaugh is no stranger to health issues. In 2001, he said he had lost most of his hearing due to an autoimmune inner-ear disease. He had surgery to have an electronic device placed in his skull to restore his hearing.
Two years later, Limbaugh acknowledged he was addicted to pain medication. He blamed the addiction on severe back pain, and took a five-week leave from his radio show to enter rehab.
But this past year, Limbaugh seemed to be getting back into shape. He had lost a lot of weight on a strict diet, and back in August, he bragged on the air that he lost 90 lbs in less than six months.
Limbaugh’s three-hour weekday show -- which often rails against the Obama White House -- is heard on some 600 radio stations across the country, and more than 14 million people listen to him at least once a week.
Americans said in a poll last month that Limbaugh was America's most influential conservative voice.
