By George! Up In The Air Grabs Six Golden Globes Nominations

George Clooney's drama Up In The Air led with six Golden Globe Award nominations, as contenders for the 67th annual event were announced at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills Tuesday morning.

The film's six nominations include: best dramatic film, best actor in a drama (Clooney); best director (Jason Reitman); best screenplay; and a pair of best supporting actress nods, for Twilight’s Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga.

Meryl Streep will compete against herself in the best actress in a musical/comedy category, where she received nods for her work in It's Complicated and Julie and Julia.  Meanwhile, Sandra Bullock also picked up two nominations -- one for leading dramatic role in The Blind Side and as comedic actress in The Proposal.

Pop superstar Justin Timberlake, The Office's John Krasinski and Inglourious Basterds stunner Diane Kruger were on hand to announce the contenders. The Golden Globes are traditionally a decent indicator of what to expect on Oscar night, as 67.4 percent of Academy Awards best picture winners have received a Golden Globe beforehand.

On the television side, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association honored AMC's Mad Men with a leading three nominations: Best Drama, Best Actor (Jon Hamm)

and Best Actress (January Jones).

Critics' darling 30 Rock may face some stuff competition at the Golden Globes as freshmen comedies Glee and Modern Family both scored nominations in the Best Comedy or Musical category.

HBO led with 17 nominations, followed by Fox and Showtime, each with six.
