Jodie Sweetin has had a tumultuous year—in a good way.

Her daughter Zoie is 20 months old, she’s promoting a book, and at 27 years old, is celebrating her first full year clean and sober.

Sweetin Admits Snorting Cocaine Before Giving Anti-Drug Speeches

“It’s gone by quick,” Sweetin told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. “I really had to change some big things in my life and analyze some of my behaviors. Knowing that I didn’t want to be an alcoholic mom to my daughter was probably the biggest factor.”

In her new book, Unsweetined, the former star of Full House talks candidly about her addictions to alcohol and drugs, specifically cocaine and meth. She grew up the adopted daughter of sober parents. When she was nine, they told her the truth about her biological parents and their history of addiction.

“Knowing that that was my biological history made me think, is this my destiny? Is this who I’m destined to be?” she said.

For anyone who grew up watching Full House, Sweetin played loveable middle daughter Stephanie Tanner. It was the good-girl, sweet tempered character that Jodie says made things difficult for her once she left the set.

“I was the girl who was always like, ‘I’m going to show you how much I’m NOT like Stephanie,” Jodie said. “So I would always drink more or use more than everyone else to prove how different I was.”

When asked what she plans to tell her daughter when she’s old enough to read the book and question her mother’s actions, Jodie laughed, “She’s not leaving the house until she’s 13! I’m going to get one of those ankle monitors for her….no, no, I’m just kidding. I just want her to know that  I made mistakes but I’m now an example of a sober mom….I’m a completely different person now.”
