EXCLUSIVE VIDEO INTERVIEW: Attorney - Redmond O'Neal "Wants To Stay Clean"

Redmond O’Neal was in a Los Angeles courtroom Wednesday morning for a progress hearing with Judge Michael Tynan, who appeared impressed with the strides he has made in the early stages of his rehabilitation.

"I told you to turn it around, and it looks like you did," Tynan said.

Outside of court, RadarOnline.com caught up with O'Neal's attorney, Richard Pintal, said O’Neal “wants to stay clean” and described the day's events as "very moving."

"Judge Tynan is a very hands-on judge, and a very hands-on individual," Pintal told us exclusively. "He's a very caring judge -- basically, you have to be to run this drug court."

Pintal told RadarOnline.com that Redmond was very honest in admitting that this this the first time he genuinely wants to stay sober, as opposed to going through the motions. He said that Tynan was "touched" by Redmond's earnest desire to stay clean.

On November 19, the judge told Redmond he’d better step it up or there would be “consequences.”

"I have been doing treatment awhile your honor,” Redmond told the judge. “I want to do something different. I want to stay clean.”

The long-troubled son of Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett is currently in residential treatment at Impact in Pasadena, California.

Fawcett died in June, and left the bulk of her $4.5 million estate to Redmond.

Redmond told RadarOnline.com exclusively,  "I feel very good, and I'm staying very positive."

His next hearing is set for January 6.
