Michael David Barrett, an Illinois man accused of stalking and secretly taping ESPN reporter Erin Andrews, is slated to enter his plea to an interstate stalking charge in a Los Angeles courtroom Tuesday afternoon.
Barrett, a 48-year-old insurance executive from Westmont, Illinois, is expected to plead guilty to the stalking charge, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in a federal prison. Prosecutors said Barrett followed Andrews through multiple states, requested rooms adjacent to hers, and filmed her naked through peepholes; he was arrested October 2 at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport.
Barrett is currently free on $100,000 bond, though remains under house arrest, wears electronic monitoring devices and has restrictions imposed on his communications through the phone and computer.
