Michael Jackson can still sell tickets. The bio-concert film, Michael Jackson's This Is It, won the box office wars with an estimated $21.3 million in ticket sales. The figure is less than the producers had hoped for but they are more than making up for soft North American business with boffo numbers from the rest of the world, especially Japan.

This Is It Had A Special Midnight Opening

Paranormal Activity, the sensational thriller made for a mere $15,000, pulled in another $16.5 million for second place. Law Abiding Citizen is showing surprising strength. It came in third with $7.3 million. Fourth place went to Couples Retreat. The Vince Vaughn comedy took in an additional $6.1 million in tickets. Saw VI fell off 60 percent from last weekend and took in only $5.6 million for fifth place.
