R&B singer Mya and her partner, Dmitry Chaplin, wowed judges on Monday night’s episode of Dancing With The Stars with the first perfect score of the season for her 70s-inspired rendition of the samba.
While awarding them a perfect 10, Judge Carrie Ann Inaba told the pair , “I believe that you want to win this competition.”
Mya’s other dance, the quick step, earned her a near-perfect score of 29 out of 30.
The Grammy-winning Ghetto Superstar singer was grateful after her dominating display.
“Dinner Celebration with family, friends and Dmitry,” the 30-year-old vocalist Tweeted. “Food is great. Thank u guys for the motivation every week. We’ve been working hard.”
Backstage, RadarOnline.com reporter Tina Malave dug deep with some of season’s hopefuls, and asked the pairs what pet peeves have developed in the endless hours of practice with one another in training for the show.
Mya and Chaplain kept their pet peeves pretty harmless, so as to keep the good chemistry high. Mya said Chaplin’s choice in hard clunky shoes hurts her –on the rare occasions he steps on her toes.
Dancers Derek Hough and Karina Smirnoff admitted that, at times, they lose patience when their celebrity partners (Joanna Krupa and Kelly Osbourne, respectively) suffer from lapses in concentration.
Smirnoff said “it takes me getting angry, like, ‘Where’s my Aaron?” to get Carter focus; Osbourne says Van Amstel can show his irritation with a pouty look.
Dancing With The Stars airs Monday at 8/7c and Tuesday at 9/8c on ABC.
