Aaron Carter was voted off Dancing With The Stars Tuesday night, although he looked like anything but a loser as he held his head high in defeat.

“One thing I will always remember and take from this competition is the lessons I learned,” Carter, who was paired with Karina Smirnoff, said following his ouster. “I’ve grown so much with your compliments and your criticism, so thank you for helping me be able to grow on this show.”

Judge Len Goodman, who Carter had likened to a father figure on a previous episode, told the 21-year-old, in response, that he is “an inspiration to all young people that anything is possible.

"And if you were my son I would be so proud of you," Goodman said. "But more important, you be proud of yourself, because you’ve been great.”

Smirnoff was also optimistic in the wake of her modest top-five finish.

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of u, guys, for voting for us and getting us to quaterfinals,” she Tweeted. “We could not have done it w/o u!”
