While the explosion of television on the Internet spawned from great demand and even better technology, the fact remains that big networks and bigger stars are still making it for those boxes in our family rooms.

Enter DFDTV.com--a network launched entirely to service the traditional boob tube appetite but with a more evolved concept of watching online.

"This started in many ways to be there when the web meets the living room," founder Joseph Nicholson said.

DFDTV.com offers virtual channels in categories like comedy, live music and independent film. Nicholson's goal is to target baby boomers who have yet to adapt to digital entertainment.

"What's going to prevent the success of this transition? People of a certain age who will never finish dinner then sit down in front of computers for their television fix."

Nicholson and his team take their roots in the original television model, providing time-slotted material for the older set and on-demand, edited versions for Gen Y.

"We set out to create the network TV that can service everyone," Nicholson said.

"We came to the conclusion that many things on the Internet are entertaining, but there's not much entertainment."
