Ready for combat? The highly-anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is in stores now, and promises some of the most realistic storylines, superb graphics, customization options and upgraded, interactive gameplay this side of an actual war zone.

The game picks up where its predecessor, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, left off, setting the stage for head-to-head showdowns with a vicious, plotting terrorist. One of the game's most innovative new features is cooperative SpecOps mode, a hybrid of Modern Warfare's single-player elements with the addictive multi-player angles. Seventeen maps have also been added to the new edition of the game.

Reviews for the game have, unsurprisingly, been glowing.

Metacritic.com, a blog compilation of reviews, awarded it a sterling 96 out of 100, the highest among this winter's releases. According to USA Today, "players won't see anything revolutionary, but they will experience a perfectly crafted video game."

But the most pragmatic assessment of the addictive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 belonged to MTV’s Kyle Anderson, who said, “If you're anything like me, you'll be spending the better part of the next four or five months of your life playing all the different variations available on the new game." Anderson also provided a homemade playlist to serve as a complement to the game’s tunes available here.
