In court Friday Lindsay Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, requested an extra year for Lindsay to complete her alcohol awareness program, due to her work commitments, which the judge granted, but sternly warned that Lindsay has to make the program her "priority" and that if she hears she is avoiding it she will be dragged back into court.

Holley explained away Lindsay's recent absences from the program as her having been working on a documentary about child trafficking in India for the BBC, filming a movie in Texas, promoting her Ungaro fashion line and recording a new album.

Lindsay's attorney also revealed that the starlet will be looking to continue to move around the country for work related purposes. But not so fast, according to the judge - she ordered that Lindsay has to get court approval for any leave of absence from LA of 21 days or more, and stipulated that it had to be work related, no "vacation" or "shopping" trips.

Lindsay, who appeared disheveled and strung-out with blood shot eyes and an alarmingly skinny frame, according to an eyewitness, sat quietly during the hearing.

The actress arrived over an hour and a half late for the court hearing prompting Judge Marsha N. Revel to joke, "If someone doesn't hurry up and get here I might kill someone," But the judge's mood turned stern once Lohan was in the courtroom.

The judge ordered that after any leave of court approved absence Lindsay must start back with the program within two days or risk jail time. The DA had asked for jail time at this hearing, but the judge refused. The judge was firm but fair, at one point telling Lohan, "I'm rooting for you to successfully complete the program."

Going on to say, ""I don't want any more notices from the program of violations. I don't want to issue you a warrant. There aren't going to be any special privileges or thumbing your nose at the court."

Lindsay's attorney gave a progress update stating that Lindsay has completed 15 of the 26 mandated group classes, 13 of the 26 interviews, completed all 6 of the alcohol education classes and 13 of the 28 self help classes.

Lindsay's next progress hearing is December 15th and as long as she is compliant with the judge's rulings she will not be expected to attend.
