Chris Brown’s comeback has begun.

Eight months after a vicious attack on his then-girlfriend Rihanna, Brown took the stage in a Michael Jackson-inspired outfit to headline a promotional concert for New Jersey radio station Power 105.1 Tuesday.

The audience at the show, which was held at at the Izod Center, roared cheers of approval as the R&B singer sailed through a set that included popular tracks such as Take You Down, Yo and Gimme That. He closed with Forever, the 2008 single that brought Brown some good publicity this past summer when a video of a Minnesota couple, that entered their wedding ceremony in a choreographed dance to the tune, went viral.

Trey Songz said Brown deserves a second chance.

"In God's eyes, none of us are perfect, and he forgives us every day," Songz said. "I commend Power 105 for giving it to him."

Brown, who begins a “fan appreciation” tour Nov. 14, has repeatedly expressed remorse and sorrow over the career-impacting incident in his efforts to win back the public following his brutal beating of the Umbrella singer Feb. 8 in Hancock Park, California. He was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to do 180 days of community labor as a part of the plea deal he made in June for assaulting the Barbadian superstar; a restraining order issued to Brown orders the him to keep his distance from her for five years.
