David Letterman Took Mistress On Family Vacations With Wife

The David Letterman sex scandal has taken a bizarre new twist – following revelations that The Late Show icon took his mistress Stephanie Birkitt on a Caribbean vacation with his wife Regina Lasko and their young son.
The New York Post is reporting that Lasko had no idea that her husband was involved with the $200,000 a year employee who is at the center of a $2 million blackmail plot involving television producer Robert Halderman.

It’s understood the bizarre love triangle saw the trio once go to St Barts together along with Letterman and Lasko’s son Harry, 6.
According to sources Lasko, 48, is fuming that Letterman, 62, took the much younger Birkitt, 34, on their family vacations.

It’s understood that Lasko believed that Birkitt was only a friend and a innocent co-worker at the time – only last fall Letterman and Birkitt took hikes together at the family’s Montana ranch also.
Notoriously private Lasko, a one-time Late Show employee too, married Letterman in March after being his girlfriend for 23 years.

Birkitt, also a Late Show employee, was identified as Letterman’s lover after a failed attempt by another former boyfriend television producer Robert Halderman to extort $2 million from the talk show giant.
Halderman learned of Birkitt’s affair last December when he read her diaries and the couple vowed to stay together after she promised to stop having sex with the comic.

But Halderman went crazy after he spotted Letterman and Birkitt making out in the drive-way of the home they shared in Norwalk, Conn.
This week, his friend Dr. Bob Arnot revealed on Good Morning America: “He sees the two of them in a very passionate embrace – he is beside himself. "He really believed that he was being played, that Joe is the ‘back-up guy’ and at that point he just got enraged."

Sources claim that the producer was driven out of revenge more than extorting money in that he wanted to make Letterman’s life miserable.
On September 9, Halderman reportedly handed Letterman’s limo driver a package at 6am containing a screenplay outline about a philandering talk-show host and excerpts from Birkitt’s diaries about sex with Letterman.
David Letterman Drama Makes For Ratings Gold
According to sources, Halderman wanted to hear back from Letterman by 8am that same day. At 8.30am, Halderman attended a memorial service for CBS giant Walter Cronkite.
On October 1, Letterman went public about the blackmail plot and that he had had sex with multiple female co-workers.

He then went public once again on October 5 admitting that Lasko had been horribly hurt by his behavior and that the affairs were now in the past.
It’s understood that his confession came at his wife’s insistence and that it wasn’t something he really wanted to do.

Foxnews.com reported that Lasko demanded that Letterman went over with her what he was going to say on The Late Show but that she wasn’t pleased with the way his humor lessened the sincerity of his apology.
It remains to be seen if Letterman will survive the continuing fall-out from the blackmail scandal which could spiral out of control forcing CBS to take action.
