Even if you don’t recognize his name, you’d definitely recognize at least one of Landon Pigg’s songs. The 26-year-old’s sparse and sweet Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop is on heavy rotation on TV commercials—first on the A Diamond Is Forever campaign and now on those ubiquitous AT&T commercials.

“It's always surreal and nice to hear your voice come out of bad quality TV speakers,” Landon tells RadarOnline.com. “It harkens back to singing on commercials in Chicago when I was nine.”

Landon, who actually calls Nashville home, has certainly come a long way. After tugging on heartstrings with his self-titled debut in 2006, and then landing songs on commercials, as well as on Grey’s Anatomy and One Tree Hill, Landon got an offer to audition for Whip It!, a fun roller derby romp and the directorial debut of Drew Barrymore. Not only did Landon get the gig, he shines in the role of Oliver, a sexy, scrappy local musician who falls for Ellen Page’s character, Bliss.

Landon said making the film with Drew “felt like home,” and the fact that he was surrounded with such a music-loving cast—including Drew, Ellen, Juliette Lewis and rapper Eve—only added to that. “Drew was always playing music on set. She always had her little portable iPod player, hot pink,” says Landon. “She played a lot of Hole, Muse, MGMT, M.I.A.”

Landon says that Ellen is “a pretty good finger picker” and that they bonded over their love of Nick Drake, while Juliet can “draw blood from a stone with the sweeter side of her voice,” but his favorite musical moment from set was an impromptu jam session.

“I stumbled in late one night into a speakeasy only to hear some racket in a secret upstairs room,” he recalls. “I walk up to find Juliette and Eve rapping on stage about Patron, and Drew banging away on the drums. We were all watching. It was like a family talent show.”

As a musician first, Landon finds inspiration almost everywhere he goes, and keeps a breast pocket-sized notebook with him at all times for whenever it may strike. And on his gorgeous new album “The Boy Who Never,” Landon says he found inspiration pretty much everywhere, including on friends’ roofs, in full moons, hotel pianos, goodwill organs and the music of Patsy Cline. And the songs live up to the romantic promise of those influences, offering up poetic lyrics paired with exquisite melodies. The album is out now, and Landon has been enjoying playing the songs live across the U.S.
