Kanye West Ordered to 50 Hours of Community Service

A Los Angeles judge sentenced Kanye West and his road manager, Don Crawley, to 50 hours of community service Friday afternoon as a result of a run-in they had with paparazzi last year.

West was arrested on September 11, 2008 at Los Angeles International Airport for damaging a photographer’s camera and later pled not guilty to charges of vandalism, grand theft and battery which resulted from the incident.

"I'm very pleased that the court granted a dismissal of all the charges," West’s attorney, Blair Berk, told reporters after the judgment was announced.

Berk argued that criminal charges were too severe and that the rapper’s time would be better spent volunteering with the American Red Cross.  After his throw-down with the photographer, the Chicago-native willingly attended 12 one-hour sessions of anger management counseling.
