EXCLUSIVE: Balloon Dad Was Forced To Wear Electronic Monitoring Bracelet

Balloon Boy's dad, Richard Heene was forced to wear an ankle bracelet, monitoring his whereabouts, as part of his run-in with the criminal justice system, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

Court papers connected to Heene's 1997 arrest for vandalism, vehicle tampering and disturbing the peace show he was ordered to wear the device for 30 days, after pleading no contest to various charges in connection with a violent encounter.

The criminal complaint says Heene "did willfully, unlawfully, and maliciously deface, damage, and destroy real and personal property, to wit, 1987 Volkswagon, not his own, belonging to Benito Ortiz."

It goes on to state that on or about April 12th 1997 Heene, "Did willfully and unlawfully fight, and did maliciously and willingly disturb another person by loud and unreasonable noise, and did use offensive words in a public place inherently likely to provoke an immediate violent reaction."

RadarOnline.com was first to report Monday that Henne had spent four days in jail and the newly discovered court papers confirm that exclusive.

Henne was charged with three misdemeanors from the April 12, 1997 incident.

He avoided serving more than four days in jail by wearing the ankle bracelet. His only permitted activities during the 30-day monitoring period were listed as employment, school and next court appointment.
