The time has come to think pink -- it is Breast Cancer Awareness month, after all -- and all you need is five bucks and a pair of blue jeans.

Lee National Denim Day, headed by celebrity cancer survivor Christina Applegate, kicks off in Kansas City Friday, making two minimal demands of those worldwide who want to help in combating the deadly disease: wearing jeans and donating $5 (which will be donated to Women’s Cancer Programs of EIF).

Explained Lee Jeans' Liz Cahill: “What’s so powerful about Denim Day is that it’s just $5 -- anyone can participate and together, we can raise millions in one day and really make a difference. With Christina’s help, we’re really hopeful tomorrow will be a big day.”

Applegate, a 37-year old Emmy-winner, was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy last year.

Denim Day, now in its 13th year, has raised in excess of $75 million for the fight against breast cancer. Net proceeds from the event will aid Lee Laboratories in finding effective, less-toxic breast cancer treatments; developing a blood test for earlier detection and other associated expenses.
