Psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich, internist Sandeep Kapoor and attorney Howard K. Stern are accused of conspiring to illegally provide Smith with the drugs that led to her fatal overdose at 39 in a Florida hotel room in February of 2007.

The Defendants Please Not Guilty

Santiago, who had earlier testified that eleven prescription bottles were found in Smith's hotel room the day she died, confirmed that Stern told him Smith was taking the mix of drugs because she suffered from back pain caused by her breast implants.

According to a March 2007 coroner's report, Smith died of "acute combined drug intoxication" of chloral hydrate, clonazepam (also known as klonopin) and other controlled substances.

Stern also told Santiago that Smith was taking clonazepam for brain seizures she apparently suffered from. Santiago also confirmed that an orange cup on Smith's nightstand tested positive for chloral hydrate.
