A forensic expert Wednesday said a bone fragment found in an Antioch, California backyard adjacent to the house of Phillip Garrido -- the convicted rapist accused of molesting and imprisoning Jaycee Lee Dugard in the past 18 years -- appears to have belonged to a human being.

A state DNA lab will test the bone for further info; the yard was searched for four days after Dugard turned up, prompting authorities to scour the area for clues from other crimes.

Jimmy Lee, of the Contra Costa County sheriff's department, was skeptical the bone would lead to cold cases being solved.

"It is not uncommon to find Native American remains in Contra Costa County, " he said.

Jaycee was allegedly snatched at age 11 by Garrido and his wife, as she waited at a bus stop in South Lake Tahoe, California in 1991. The alleged sexual abuse by Garrido began almost immediately, and she subsequently gave birth to two babies in the backyard prison. Officials Monday retrieved found a bone fragment at a house adjacent to Garrison's, who is in custody on suspicion of various kidnapping and sex charges. His wife, Nancy Garrido, 54, is also in custody on kidnapping charges.
