Hardened detectives broke-down and sobbed the moment they re-united Jaycee Dugard with her real mother and aunts, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

San Francisco Prosecutor Michael Cardoza - who has close ties to detectives working the kidnapping case that has shocked America - has opened-up about what he has learned.

And according to him, the detectives are determined to gather as much evidence as possible against both twisted Philip Garrido and his wife Nancy Garrido who they see as his evil equal in the horror crime.

Cardoza told RadarOnline.com: "The re-union with Jaycee and her family was very emotional - they were crying but the detectives were the same way too. These are hardened, tough, guys but this case has really gotten to them and at the actual hand-over that emotion came through to everyone concerned."

Nancy Garrido was with her husband when they allegedly snatched Jaycee, then aged 11, at a bus stop near her house in South Lake Tahoe, California, in 1991.

Cardoza explained: "Nancy was very much part of this abduction once Jaycee was in the car they pushed her down on the floorboards, threatened her, and then took her straight away to Antioch, California. This woman is just as bad as him and any notion of a plea of insanity is ridiculous - that would have to mean that she did not know the difference from right and wrong - clearly in that was not the case she was totally complicit with her husband."

Cardoza believes that the detectives working the case do not buy in to the notion that Nancy was forced to do the shocking crime by her convicted rapist husband.

The oddball pair met when she, then Nancy Bocanegra, was visiting a relative at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas, where Garrido was serving a life-sentence for raping a 25-year-old woman.

"Look this woman met her husband in prison she new exactly what she was getting in to with him," added Cardoza.

"In my opinion she is a sociopath who put her own needs before anything she may have felt for Jaycee Dugard and her two daughters.

Investigators believe that when Garrido was released he raped Jaycee and that Nancy - who could not have children - delivered the two girls Starlite and Angel in the compound.

And although defense lawyers will claim that Nancy treated them as her own daughters before they were discovered and that it was her husband who came-up with the sickening plan, Michael Cardoza remains unimpressed.

He added: "Look, these girls may have been allowed out from time to time but they did not know the reality of their situation and who their mother really was.

"Nancy Garrido chose to go along with this evil plan just as much as her husband did and they are working to prove this."
