Drew Barrymore Opens Up About On-And-Off Again Boyfriend Justin Long

Drew Barrymore has morphed herself into more than an actress. A successful producer and now also a director, she recently added photographer to thelist and opened up about her on-and-off romance with Justin Long.
Gracing the cover of Time Out New York, the actress went around the city armed with a camera and spoke candidly about the experience and her personal life. She also showed off her recently-acquired bruises.
"I am really respectful about taking people’s photos," she said. "Yeah, it’s ironic. I do wish that was the way people treated me when it comes to photography. It’s more like, “Can you bend over? We’re about to anally probe you.” Laughs"
Barrymore's directorial debut Whip It (which opens on October 2) centers on roller derby and life was soon inspired by the fiction.
"Yeah—what I love about the sport is that it’s real and high stakes... And I love when women get to be women and not feel like they have to become a man in order to play in a man’s world." Lately, she herself has dabbled in male-centric behavior by participating in a "female fight club" which resulted in still-visible bruises on her arm.
"We discovered at a bar one night that I definitely have that, like, feisty little boy inside of me, and when I drink he comes out," she explained.
Currently, she is filming Going the Distance with Justin Long and the two are rumored to have rekindled their romance.
"We’re friends, and we love each other, and that’s all we know. Laughs" Barrymore offered. As for the movie's plot, the long-distance relationship thread may hit close to home: "And it’s great because we can bring so much personal emotion to it, and yet we don’t want to be defined by anyone, because we don’t define ourselves. We can bring a lot of honesty to this thing."
The movie opens in 2010.
