Clearly ready to get away from the orange vest he had to wear while performing community service, Chris Brown popped up in Los Angeles and did some shopping- even leaving one store with a message to his mom around his neck.

“HI MOM!” it read in big, red letters on a chain around Brown’s neck. The rapper has been in Virginia doing hard labor to fulfill a court sentence regarding his February assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown was sentenced to 60 months felony probation and ordered to attend a 52-week domestic violence program and 56-weeks of community service.
