Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds is seeking treatment in a rehab facility for alleged addictions to prescription drugs and alcohol.

The 73-year old star was admitted to a hospital on Aug. 21 after he was found semi-conscious and covered in blood following a fall at his waterfront mansion in Hobe Sound, according a report in The National Enquirer.

"The houseman found Burt lying in a pool of blood. He'd fallen and was badly cut. The houseman drove him to the hospital. But this time, Burt was behaving strangely, and doctors were so concerned about his state of mind that they sent him to the county mental health facility in West Palm Beach," a source tells The Enquirer.

The Smokey and the Bandit actor then agreed to check straight into rehab after medics refused to discharge him unless he sought professional help.

Reynolds has previously confessed to a reliance on sleeping aid Halcion after turning to the drug to ease the terrible pain he felt from temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) in the 1980s.
