Dressed in all black, a teary eyed Kanye West spoke to Jay Leno for the debut of the comedian's primetime show on NBC.  Leno opened the second half of his maiden program saying it was West who asked to say a few words.

When Leno asked what West's deceased mother would think of his incident involving Taylor Swift on Sunday, Kanye paused for 15 seconds and could not speak. Leno placed his hand on the artist's knee and Kanye finally mumbled, "I've dealt with hurt. I am just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else pain. I need to take some time off and analyze and take some time off and figure out how I'm gonna improve".
