The countdown is finally over: Madden NFL 10 is here.

The uber-realistic game, which has become a pop culture staple for football fans and gaming enthusiasts alike, hits shelves Friday with all the brute force of a Patrick Willis tackle.

And like a fine wine, the game just keeps getting better and better. This year's incarnation of the football franchise included streamlined features such as: lifelike graphics down to the detail of each Larry Fitzgerald dreadlock; game-play simple enough for beginners, or sophisticated enough for Bill Belichick; and a pallet of multi-player options that allow you to play the whole family on the couch, or an online gaming friend on the other side of the world.

Of course, the savvy folks at EA continue raising the bar higher and higher in terms of special features and Madden 2010 has more than you'll know what to do with. New innovations include: the Madden Showdown, a tournament mode for 1-4 players; a prediction mode for the never-ending football prognosticators and special camera focus on spotlight moments in the game -- this is not your daddy's Madden.
