Liam Neeson, in his first sit-down TV interview since the tragic passing of wife Natasha Richardson, discussed his day-to-day life since her passing, his new film, and the death of Senator Ted Kennedy on Good Morning America Wednesday.

"We're taking each day as it comes," a subdued Neeson said of his family's coping with Richardson's untimely death after a March 18 ski accident. "I'm still getting extraordinary condolence letters from American people that's deeply, deeply touching, and that's partly the reason why I've recently become an American citizen. I'm still a proud Irishman, but I've become an American citizen, and I'm very, very proud of that."

Neeson said in his new film, Five Minutes Of Heaven, he plays Alistair Little, a former member of a Northern Irish paramilitary group who is haunted by a past killing.

Neeson said he has been offered many roles pertaining to his Northern Irish roots, but this one stood out because it touched his heart.

Said Neeson: "It was true, it was novel, it said something -- it was a no-brainer."

Neeson said of the late Kennedy, who wrote him a touching condolence letter after Richardson's passing: "He was a very special man. It is the end of an era."
