Michael Vick will live and breathe that Philadelphia Freedom — and PETA is not happy.
The animal rights advocacy group was irked, as the beleaguered quarterback late Thursday inked a two-year pact with the Philadelphia Eagles to serve as the backup signal caller to starter Donovan McNabb.
"People around the world are disappointed that the Eagles have chosen to sign a guy who hung dogs from trees, electrocuted them with jumper cables, held them under water until they drowned, even threw his own family dogs into the fighting ring with the pit bulls," the advocacy group said in a statement to Radaronline.com. "You've got to wonder what kind of message this sends to young people who care about animals and don't want to see them be harmed."

"I pretty much lobbied to get him here, because I believe everyone deserves a second chance and what better place to come (than) here,"McNabb said of his new understudy.
PETA had no planned protests at this time, though we will see what kind of reception the scrambling quarterback gets during the team's Sept. 13 opener is a road game against the Carolina Panthers at Charlotte's Ban of America stadium.
