TV: Saturday Hot List

There’s nothing better than a made-for-TV chick flick on Lifetime to cuddle up to on a Saturday night. This evening’s movie is Who is Clark Rockefellar? Eric McCormack (one of our favorites!) plays a lifelong con man who claims he’s part of the esteemed Rockefellar family and marries a millionaire played by Sherry Stringfield.  When their rocky marriage falls apart, he abducts their daughter and as a manhunt is launched—all his lies comes out. Believe or not, this is based on a true story!

And, if you’re looking for a bit of self improvement tonight, then tune into the Style channel. On What I Hate About Me, a woman with a horrible run of luck (she got divorced and lost her job) gets tips for putting her life back together—and making it better than it ever was before!

Perhaps you’re staying in tonight to get a head start on making your own list and checking it twice? If so, you can get in the holiday spirit with your pick of three holiday movie classics. You have The Polar Express on ABC, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer on CBS or It’s A Wonderful Life on NBC. You can get your fill of heart-warming holiday cheer no matter which you decide to tune into tonight!

And, holy hottness is the theme of this evening’s Saturday Night Live! There’s Twilight hunk/werewolf Taylor Lautner hosting and Bon Jovi performing as the musical guest. What’s better than curling up on the couch on a Saturday night with a cheese-tastic made-for-TV movie? Well, you’re in luck if that’s your kind of night because we have not one, but two for your viewing pleasure!

First up is Ann Rule’s Everything She Ever Wanted on the Lifetime Movie Network. It stars Gina Gershon as a status hungry woman in Atlanta that will stop at nothing to be a part of high society—driving her husband to financial ruin in the process!  We swear this isn’t a recycled episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta but it sure sounds like it could be!

And the Hallmark channel has Flower Girl with Marla Sokoloff as a young florist torn between two suitors—and a meddling grandmother (played by Marion Ross) that doesn’t make her decision any easier. Somehow we’re sure that true love will prevail!

Smart pet tricks are taught on Animal Planet’s Superfetch and we just can’t get enough. Tonight, one dog learns to retrieve diapers (clean ones of course) while another is taught to pay the pizza man and bring the food to his owners.

And, now that football season is in full swing—Guy Fieri hosts Tailgate Warriors on the Food Network. It’s a competition where tailgate chefs from across the country go head to head to see who has the best game day cuisine!

Immediately after, football fans can keep up the momentum with an episode of Unwrapped dedicated to a behind the scenes look at tailgating goodies including Doritoes and Sam Adams beer.

Sigh . . . there’s nothing better than a trash-tastic Lifetime movie on a Saturday night at home. Tonight the Lifetime Movie Network premieres My Nanny’s Secret starring Haylie Duff. The plot is fairly predictable—a nanny searches for the truth after her employer is killed and the number one suspect is her brother!  Scandalous!

But if you’re looking for something with a tad more substance, then Moving Up features newlyweds that gave up their honeymoon to invest in their new home. And WE premieres the new documentary series The Adoption Diaries. Tonight’s episode features a woman (who was adopted as a child herself) going through the process of putting her own baby up for an open adoption.

Ahhh—the pickings are slim tonight but what is on the air is well worth it if you’re home.  HBO airs the Paul Rudd/Jason Segal “bromance” comedy, I Love You, Man. If you haven’t seen it yet, there are some hilarious one-liners and sight gags that are not to be missed.

Lifetime has the made-for-TV movie, Patricia Cornwell’s At Risk starring Andie MacDowell as a tough Boston DA that sends an ace detective to Tennessee to investigate a decades old murder.

And, if it seems like Justin Bieber has been everywhere these days—it’s because he has!  The 16-year-old pop superstar is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live with Tina Fey as the host!

It’s really a no brainer what you need to watch at 8pm. Those fancy schmancy pure breeds are prancing and primping in Harrisburg, Pa as they compete for the title of Best In Show. Oh yes, it’s the Animal Planet Dog Championships and we can’t wait to grab our own furry friend, plant ourselves on the couch and cheer them on.

If you want to scare yourself silly, then flip on Ghostly Encounters (just maybe think twice about watching it alone). Tonight’s episode features the ghosts of people who’ve died in hotel fires and a man who encountered a ghost at a London theater.

And if you need to start planning a vacay before the summer escapes you, then check out Samantha Brown’s Great Weekends.  Tonight she heads over the border to Canada for a great getaway to Montreal where you can do shuck some tasty oysters and play a round of cricket.

Vegas comes to your living room with the new reality poker challenge Face The Ace. Amateurs challenge world-class poker players in Las Vegas for the chance to win a grand prize of $1 million.  Every time the amateur wins, he/she gets the chance to take their winnings and run—or go head to head with another ace and risk losing it all!

You can check out comedian George Lopez in an all new stand up special called George Lopez: Tall, Dark and Chicano on HBO. The soon to be talk show host performs live from San Antonio, Texas.

And finally, if you’re looking for a different kind of laugh, Chris Kattan’s three-part IFC series Bollywood Hero ends tonight. He plays an American comedian that can only find “serious” work in India. Um, no offense but doesn’t sound like that much of a stretch!
