David Carradine had what would turn out to be a prophetic discussion about “the meaning of life” with Ulli Lommel, the director of one of his last films.

The two men worked together on Absolute Evil which was released on February 8, and incredibly featured a hanging noose on its promotional poster.  Now Lommel has just written about the emotional experience on his personal website.

“Before we started shooting ‘Absolute Evil – Final Exit,’ David and I spent several hours in his trailer to not only discuss the film and his role, but also issues concerning death, suicide, torture, sex and God,” Ulli, who also costarred in the movie, wrote.

“And he repeatedly mentioned the fact that he was searching for the meaning of life and his desire to know more about the mystery of death."

“He also stated that in moments of intense sexual activities one could get a glimpse of God and the aftermath. We decided to make that the main focus of the ‘Absolute Evil’ trilogy.”

Carradine died June 3 in Bangkok, Thailand where he had just started production on another film.  He was found hanged, with rope around his neck, hands and genitals, in what many believe was an act of auto erotic asphyxiation.
