Mystery abounds regarding the death of actor David Carradine, the legendary star of Kung Fu and Kill Bill, who was found hanging in a hotel room closet in Bangkok Wednesday.

Initial reports of the 72-year-old actor's death indicated police believed it was a suicide, but the BBC subsequently reported that the actor was found "with a cord around his neck and other parts of his body." The BBC didn't elaborate on which other body parts had a cord about them.

Carradine, officials said, was in Bangkok to shoot a movie, and had been staying in the Park Nai Lert Hotel in Bangkok since June 2.  A staff member at the hotel in Bangkok exclusively told RadarOnline.com Online.com: “ I last saw Mr Carradine at around 9:30 pm after he had eaten at the hotel’s restaurant with some other people. He was in good spirits and said hi to me.  He was not drunk although he had many one or two drinks with his meal.  After his meal he went straight-up to his suite and he was alone, nobody else was with him.”

According to the nationmultimedia.com, a hotel's maid who opened his suite on Thursday morning found Carradine's half-naked corpse dangling in a closet. His agent said the cause of death was under investigation.

A police investigation indicated that he hanged himself with a rope typically used with curtains. Police said he was dead for no less than 12 hours, and found no sign of fighting and assaults.
