The Humane Society of Berks County (PA) has logged more than a dozen complaints that Jon Gosselin's treatment of his German Shepherds, Nala and Shoka, violates animal cruelty laws.

Ironically, it was Jon himself who brought on the complaints from dog lovers around the country.

In an interview, Jon said of his dogs, "the kids beat them up, climb on them, pull their tails, bite at them, drag them around and everything you can imagine not to do to an animal, they've done."

The Humane Society ended up letting the Jon & Kate Plus 8 star off the hook, saying it found he was guilty of a "poor choice of words" but not cruelty.

"We have no credible reason to believe in any way that there is cruelty going on," Humane Society executive director Karel Minor told the Reading Eagle newspaper.
