Adam Lambert, the talented 27-year-old Southern California native who lost in the American Idol finals to Kris Allen, finally cleared up months of speculation on his sexuality to Rolling Stone magazine.

"I don't think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I'm gay," Lambert, who has drawn comparisons to iconic singer Freddie Mercury, told the magazine in its latest issue.  "I'm an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing. It shouldn't matter. Except it does. It's really confusing."

The singer told the magazine he has always embraced his individuality and incorporated it into his show biz repertoire.

"I realized that we all have our own power, and that whatever I wanted to do, I had to make happen," he said. "I was like, 'I’m going to glue rhinestones on my eyelids, bitch!'"

The talented Lambert, currently dating gorgeous interior designer Drake LaBry, told the magazine: "I'm proud of my sexuality --I embrace it. It's just another part of me." ((link to related post in which we saw them together))

He said, swiping back on another successful formerly-closeted Idol alum, that he wanted to save the official proclamation for the right time and place.

"I didn’t want the Clay Aiken thing," he said. "I need to be able to explain myself in context."
