Los Angeles County Coroner Lt. Fred Corral says an autopsy will be conducted Friday on the body of pop superstar Michael Jackson – and that results could be known by Friday afternoon.
Corral says a team will first do a physical exam of his body. Then during the autopsy, they will examine his organs for any deformity and take blood samples. His body will then be released to a mortuary to be prepped for burial.
Officials say paramedics were called to his home in Holmby Hills, an exclusive area of Los Angeles, after someone called 911 at 12:21PM PST. Paramedics arrived at the home within minutes. They found Jackson unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. For 42 minutes, paramedics performed cpr— both at his home and while en route to the UCLA Medical Center in L.A. They were unable to revive him.
Corral says Jackson was pronounced dead at the hospital at 2:26pm pm PST.
At this time, officials have not determined the exact cause of death. More will be known after the autopsy is performed.
The former King Of Pop is now case number 2094415 at the Coroner’s Office.
Jackson was 50.
