Will Miss California Carrie Prejean lose her crown?
Donald Trump -- owner of the Miss Universe franchise -- will announce the fate of the embattled beauty queen during a news conference in New York on Tuesday morning.
Prejean has been a lightning rod of controversy ever since she stated her opposition to gay marriage during the Q&A portion of the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas last month. Since then, it was revealed that Prejean received breast implants prior to the Miss USA competition at the expense of the Miss California organization, and that she had posed semi-nude but did not disclose this to pageant officials, as was required.
Trump's news conference is scheduled for 11AM Eastern Time in New York.
"We do not know what he Trump is going to decide. I have no idea," the co-executive director of the Miss California USA pageant, Keith Lewis said Monday.
If the San Diego native is disqualified from her Miss California USA title, runner-up Tami Farrell would take her spot, officials said.
In an interview with Fox News Monday, Trump intimated he is not necessarily upset by the 21-year-old, as she might have shed a light on an important social issue that might not have received it otherwise.

"The reason it's gotten this tremendous attention is because she's a great beauty," he said. "If she were a good-looking person, if she were an average-looking person or if she were a poor-looking person -- frankly, this is an issue that's discussed every day by millions of people and nobody talks about it."
