In Hollywood, flowers can make – or break an event. And don’t even get me started on weddings!
We interviewed Eddie Zaratsian, of tic-tock flowers, who has styled some of the biggest and brightest events, and why he loves his job so much.
What is your philosophy on flowers?
Flowers are one of earth’s delights. They are a treat for the senses…they can look beautiful, smell wonderful, make you feel better and some varieties taste great.
Can you describe your style?
My style is ever evolving but I take my cues from couture…eye for detail is most important…I work in many styles, it is always dictated by my clients who are my best teachers. I am a great admirer of European design because Europeans look at flowers as living art.
What is your favorite flower for all four seasons?
I do not have a favorite flower for any season…I love them all.
What is your favorite event to do (weddings, bar mitzvah’s) and why?
My favorite events are when I get to collaborate with someone with a vision. I think I can always help make it spectacular but having someone involved makes it that much more fun. What is signature to Tic Tock is that you can enter the event and know exactly who is being celebrated. Everything we do is personalized.
What is tackiest/most outrageous thing a client has ever asked for?
I am not the place where tacky people go.
How are your celebrity clients unique?
My clients have seen and done everything so we always have to be current with classic and cutting edge trends. I will say that I am fortunate enough to be the florist for many top fashion designers, so I get to learn from those who also design for a living. My clients also seem to know well what they like and dislike so they keep us on our toes.
What is the most luxurious thing you can do with flowers?
Sky’s the limit. Last week we designed giant shoes as centerpieces and hats for the guests all from flowers and leaves…it was amazing!
