Redmond O’Neal is headed into a drug court program. Appearing at LAX Airport Court Wednesday afternoon for a probation violation, Farrah Fawcett’s son looked on the verge of tears as he was placed into a court-ordered drug rehab program.

The program, at Wayside Honor Ranch, is an in-custody treatment. If he fails to make it through successfully, O'Neal could face up to four years in state prison.

District Attorney, Tony Estradas addressed O'Neal in court and said: "Redmond O'Neal, welcome to drug court. This is an opportunity for you to change your life. If you successfully complete the program, any outstanding cases, past convictions, probation, will be dismissed and cleared from your record."

“The program will take at least one year.  During that time you will work with counselors. You will submit to drug tests, one-on-one counseling, a 12-step program. You will come to court frequently. People will help you. As part of this program, you must have a job, or schooling to help you get a job."

“We don't want you to be in jail, we want you to beat your addiction.  If you fail to comply with your counselors, you could be sanctioned with writing an essay, community service, or jail."

At the conclusion of the Estradas’ speech, Redmond was nodding his head in agreement, visibly gulping, and looked like he was close to tears. He has been ordered back to court on May 28 for a progress report.
